Default Upgrading an hero?

Morning

It took me a while, but i now have 7 heros walking with me.
I finally figured salvaging out :P but i want to wait with putting insignias and runes on them until i have upgraded they're armors.

Sofar so good.
I also understand how to get weapon upgrades, but where do i put them on??

For example. I have olias whos my necro/monk
How can i findout what the best weapon is for him?? I mean i have upgrades but what drop should i save for him or what item should i buy from an collector to put those upgrades on. What basic stats does his weapon need to have????

Can anybody give me some advice on this?

thnx

Use a 40/40 of the attribute his build is using. A staff will work as well, equipment isn't very stringent when it comes to heroes unless you're optimizing them. You can also refer to gwpvx for weapons and equipment.

Actually the only upgrading you need to do with hero armor is the runes and insignia. The armor level increases automatically as the hero levels up, and the upgrades you get from challenge missions are purely cosmetic - they don't have any effect on existing runes and insignia. If you've got upgrades ready to go, there's no point waiting.

-Skill sets are much much more important than weapons. That should be your first priority. Once you've got your builds done you'll probably find optimising your weapons isn't super important (that's not an excuse to be lazy though).
-If you're getting your builds from a site like gwpvx.com or stickies on this forum, they'll probably already have weapon listings.
-I've got the Hourglass Staff from the EotN pre-order thing and I just give that to all my caster heroes unless I randomly find a green that's suitable. As long as what you're giving them is reasonably decent you'll be fine. Don't stress it too much.
-To be more precise, people generally consider the optimal weapon set for a caster (physical heroes don't get used often for a few reasons) to be a 40/40 set of their main attribute. Some people prefer a spear and shield set. Some people, like myself as mentioned previously, just throw in whatevers decent.

I think you mean that you want to wait till you have gotten them "elite" armor. unlike armor sets for yourself, changing an hero's armor to put them in your HoM doesn't effect the runes and insignia's. So if you go with Olias to the shadow nexus to ecquip him with a mysterious armor piece and he has survivor insignia's on all pieces, they will still be there after the proces. So there is no risk to rune them now.

I have chosen a 7 support hero team that is on gwpvx. Well i at least i try still missing 1 hero i still never found her in game. And i use the skill set they suggest for that team. And i am collecting the weapon upgrades they suggest. But they dont say anything about basic stats for weapons you are going to use.

And i just hate wasting a nice upgraded because i found out i put it on a weapon i rather wouldn't have :P

Keep hitting that Norn Fighting Tournament - Xandra will pop up eventually.

It's very specific about weapons - they're all either 40/40 sets or spear/shield combos.

Grim cesta: energie +12 hsr eand hct 20%
Bone spiral rod of memory: hsr and hct 20%
Survivor and Bloodstained Insignia, Major Vigor and 2 Vitae Runes

Major vigor could be upgraded to superiour but i have never seen one :P

razah you will get the option to get at the end of nightfall (quest: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Finding_a_Purpose).

I usually dump nice (almost) max weapons (greens gold or purples) on heroes...until I find a weapon I really like--I never worry that they are not 'perfect' (koss never minded that his ax only has 14% instead of 15% bonus, or +29 health instead of +30...).

Sorry to correct you Snograt, but Razah is non-sexual. The best way to see him is a gw-version of Data in Star Trek. Although the form may seem to be manly, it is actually a non-human creature that is not correctly equipped to reproduce in such matter to define him either man or woman. So if you want to state it correctly Razah is an "it" or a "thingy"

Good point. Mind you, I would never call Data an it either.

I'll have to creep up close to see if he has any hidden hints, like Cynn does
